Abstract

This report gives a compact description of an approach for dynamic clouds visualization on air traffic controller radar displays through time based transformation of polygons. The method is based on a linear interpolation of the transformation of one closed polygon into an other closed polygon over some time period. It proposes a mapping procedure for the transformation of one polygon into several polygons and vice versa as well as for the transformation in simultaneous splitting and merging case. The approach is applicable for the general interpolation of transformation between two sets (forecasted or actual) of closed polygons representing thunderstorm cells over some period of time.
