Abstract

This report is a contribution to the technical note TN1 which will be delivered to the ESA in the frame of the “High Thrust Stage Study”. The study investigates high thrust stages for manned mission beyond the Earth orbit. Three different combinations of propellant are considered LOX-LH2, LOX-CH4 and the storable combination MON-MMH. The following chapters summed up the literature study which has been conducted on storable propellants to prepare the follow-on of the study. This literature study concentrates on European developments but is also presenting some selected foreign designs.
