Extension of the PSE code NOLOT for transition analysis in rotating reference frames

Dechamps, Xavier and Hein, Stefan (2016) Extension of the PSE code NOLOT for transition analysis in rotating reference frames. 20. DGLR-Fachsymposium der STAB, 2016-11-08 - 2016-11-09, Braunschweig, Deutschland.

The present work aims at contributing to a better understanding of the effect of rotation on the stability properties of boundary layers. For this purpose, the Parabolized-Stability-Equations based NOLOT code was extended to rotating reference frames through the inclusion of the centrifugal and Coriolis forces. Stability analyses of three flow configurations were then considered for verification: the rotating Blasius Profile, the flow along a curved wall and the three-dimensional flow due to a rotating disk. Excellent agreements are observed in the results in comparison with the liteature.
