Abstract

This work is subsequent to the aerodynamic and atmospheric analysis presented in an earlier paper, which presumed a structural deformation of the main fins of SHEFEX II. For this reason the ascend phase of the vehicle is analyzed to get the maximum surface loads of the fins. Later, the extracted pressure loads where applied to a high fidelity structural model for a static analysis. The structural model consists of the tailcan, including its stringer and rib parts, and the in detail modeled fins. Overall the predicted fin deformation got confirmed, which means that the fin control impact reduces to the shown roll rate plots.
