Kurzfassung
Within the ESA Climate Change Initiative (CCI) the Aerosol_cci project works towards providing quality-assured Climate Data Records for aerosol parameters. A set of European sensors ATSR-2/AATSR(SLSTR), POLDER, IASI, GOMOS, TOMS/GOME/SCIAMACHY/GOME-2/OMI, MERIS(OLCI) is exploited to produce complementary time series of one to three decades of AOD, (augmented with fine mode AOD / Angström coefficient), dust AOD, stratospheric extinction, absorbing aerosol index, and single scattering albedo. In several cases an ensemble of algorithms is applied. Uncertainties on pixel level are characterized through error propagation. Through intensive analysis and an iterative evolution cycle algorithms have improved significantly. The presentation will summarize the latest achievements of the collaboration and draw the lessons learned from it.
