Abstract

Goal of the present work is to take into account manufacturing constraints and variances within the design of a structural bend-twist coupled rotor blade. A gradient-based aeroelastic optimization which delivers smeared stiffness properties is an efficient way to size a rotor blade. In the present work the stiffness matrices are used to generate and evaluate manufacturable stackings as described in the following.
