Abstract
This report has been prepared by the department of DLR-TAS for the Cryogenic Hypersonic Advanced Tank Technologies (CHATT) project. A major concern of this project was the investigation of the applicability of CFRP materials for potential propellant tank structures in rockets or hypersonic vehicles. The use of liquid hydrogen (LH2) and oxygen (LOX) as propellants demands the verification of the materials compatibility. Challenging is the application in a wide temperature range between ambient and cryogenic temperatures (20 K for LH2 and 90 K for LOX respectively).
