MAAXIMUS D3.5.3 – Task 3.5.3 Numerical Methodology to Model High Velocity Impact on Preloaded Composite Panels

Schueler, Dominik and Toso, Nathalie (2012) MAAXIMUS D3.5.3 – Task 3.5.3 Numerical Methodology to Model High Velocity Impact on Preloaded Composite Panels. Project Report. DLR-IB 435-2012/22, 46 S.

Abstract

This part of deliverable D3.5.3 presents a FE methodology to predict impact damage in composite panels using the detailed Ladevèze damage models implemented by DLR. Coupled implicit-explicit techniques are utilized to incorporate static preloads acting in panels subjected to HVI. A discretization method and a material model for ice projectiles are presented for further simulations involving hail impact in Abaqus/Explicit.
