This paper investigates the detection of Coherent Scatterers (CSs) on ice and glacier terrain by means of fully-polarimetric TerraSAR-X images in the test case of alpine glaciers in the alpin region. A brief description of the test sites will be presented and the detection method will be explained. Starting with a general polarimetric analysis for better understanding of the scattering mechanisms present in the scene, the polarimetric CSs detection will be investigated and the results obtained using different polarimetric basis is shown.
