Abstract

Aim of this work was to dimension a pre-loading test fixture for CFRP panels. In a first step, simulation activities were conducted to evaluate the necessary loads to apply for various lay-up in order to obtain a given pre-loading in tension and in compression. In a second step, the pre-loading structure was designed and manufactured. Finally, it was used to pre-load 750 mm x 200 mm composite plate (tension and compression) , which should be tested under high velocity impact.
