OPERATIONAL IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CONTEXT OF DMAN, A-SMGCS AND A-CDM

Abstract

Today departures are handled mostly in the way of receiving engine start-up when they call for it. This may lead to long queues at the runway holding point where a lot of fuel is wasted. The idea is to • introduce a departure management tool (DMAN) to predict optimised departure sequences and departure times, • use A-SMGCS (Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control Systems) to control the movements and get better situational awareness for the controllers, • integrate DMAN and A-SMCGS, to improve departure planning and provide only one HMI (Human Machine Interface) to the controller, • use A-CDM (Airport - Collaborative Decision Making) combined with departure scheduling for better predictability and reliability of departure times. This paper will offer a short glance at departure scheduling, will describe how A-SMGCS integration will enhance the departure scheduling and how the DLR Departure Manager CADEO and A-CDM fit together.
