The efficient integration of new types of propulsion systems requires a very good understanding of the aerodynamic interference phenomena of the engine and the airframe. For experimental investigations engine simulators must be available which are able to simulate the essential parameters of the real flow field. Model engines must be calibrated for the thrust and the fan mass flow over their operating envelopes. Results of such calibration including the calibration procedure of a new Ultra-high-bypass (UHB) simulator at low speed are described in the present report. In addition results of a conventional turbofan simulator are also reported for comparison with the UHB-simulator. For high speed tests the necessary fan blade condition of the UHB-simulator and the exp aerodynamic parameters are estimated using a theoretical performance calculation method. In the report the essential parameters of the simulation are discussed and compared partly with experimental data.
