Abstract

The structural behavior of undamaged thin-walled stringer stiffened carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) panels loaded in compression is primarily limited by its buckling and postbuckling performance. Two extensive in-house tests have been conducted to obtain a reliable foundation to validate the nonlinear finite element analysis using the commercial software tool ABAQUS. Detailed information are provided with respect to pre-test planning and analysis, preparation of the test specimens, test procedure as well as FE-Model, nonlinear analysis procedure and finally the process of validation at different levels of detail.
