In the frame of a co-operation between ONERA and DLR initiated by Airbus Industrie and in frame of the Airbus 3E LaTec-Programme on extensive investigation on hybrid laminar flow control(HLFC) on Airbus A320 fin has been performed. The first phase was devoted to the theoretical evaluation of the selected A320 fin, to the construction of a 1:2 model and for wind tunnel investigations in the S1Ma of ONERA. Based on the experimental results a second phase has been decided by the Airbus partners and under the leadership of Daimler-Chrysler Aerospace the original fin was retrofit, with the HLFC technology and successfully tested in two flight tests campaigns. The paper describes the main results of the first phase and shows some preliminary results of the flight tests.
