Abstract
The EC research project EPISTLE was able to design new low-drag high-lift systems using numerical tools. These high-lift systems were manufactured into a large scale wind tunnel model. The predicted drag reductions (20% compared to a datum system) were confirmed by wind tunnel tests at high Reynolds numbers in a pressurized wind tunnel. These drag reductions were confirmed to reduce the low-speed noise for such aircraft configurations considerable.
