Kurzfassung
To mitigate and forecast space weather effects in modern radio systems a comprehensive understanding of the generation and propagation of ionospheric perturbations at all scales is required. Ground and space based GNSS measurements have a great potential for monitoring, modelling and studying the global ionosphere. All three techniques complement each other in describing ionospheric features. They are well suited for a routine 3D reconstruction of the ionosphere / plasmasphere systems up to GNSS orbit heights in near real time. There is an outstanding potential of using multi-satellite GNSS data for ionospheric research and space weather monitoring To get a comprehensive view on ionospheric processes, coordinated studies with other types of measurements, e.g. with VS or ISR needed
