Kurzfassung
The paper describes the problem oriented application of DLR’s experimental MW radar and MMW radiometer sensors for the estimation of truckload under controlled slow driving conditions of a test truck. Various measurement geometries have been identified and tested by suitable experiments. Conventional load as it is available on transfer stations of freight companies has been used in order to estimate the sensor performances with respect to the intended tasks. It points out that both radar and radiometer approaches have benefits for the intended application. The different ideas and some representative experimental imaging results of both systems are presented.
