ASYSTED - development of a mHealth based expert support system for ultrasonic examination performed by laymen

Specialized medical diagnostic is not available worldwide. Especially in large countries and remote areas, the consultation of medical experts is often associated with life-threatening delays and significantly transport costs. By the use of a telesonography system, case investigation by a medical expert can be carried out faster and the physician at site can initiate directly a necessary therapy. For this purpose ASYSTED (Advanced System for Tele Guidance Diagnostic) has been developed which allows an intuitive and cost-effective method for remote guidance and consultation. The system is available via satellite communications or IP connections ubiquitously (water, land, air) and can also be used by laypersons. ASYSTED is currently being developed in cooperation with a manufacturer of satellite communication systems. A testing and evaluation of the system under realistic conditions is in preparation.
