Kurzfassung
The acoustic field and acoustic energy dissipation are investigated in a sub-scale combustion chamber using liquid oxygen and gaseous hydrogen propellants. The acoustic field is forced through the use of a sectored siren wheel allowing the investigation of acoustic energy dissipation and its dependence on combustion chamber pressure and acoustic mode. Quantitative measurements of acoustic dissipation for combustion chamber pressures up to 60 bar are presented. An investigation of the acoustic field and the siren wheel forcing function is carried out with the use of a one-dimensional harmonic oscillator model. It was found that phase analysis of pressure sensor data was required to understand the spread in the acoustic dissipation coefficient between sensors during the same operational conditions.
