Kurzfassung
As part of the project „Design, Simulation and Flight Reynolds Number Testing for Advanced High Lift Solutions (DESIREH)” a half-model wind tunnel test was conducted in the European Transonic Wind tunnel (ETW) at low Mach numbers (Ma=0.2) and temperatures ranging between 115 and 290 Kelvin. The Temperature Sensitive Paint (TSP) images showed a good signal-to-noise ratio, which made it possible to determine various flow features, such as laminar-turbulent transition, footprints of vortices and wing tip separation. For the first time this test combined consecutive measurements of cryoTSP and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) within a single tunnel entry. It was found that the PIV seeding did not influence the location of laminar-turbulent transition and furthermore no significant increase of the number of turbulent wedges was detected.
