CFD Simulation of Flow in Combustion Chamber with Porous Injector Head and Transpirationally Cooled Walls

Kurzfassung

The flow inside combustion chamber with porous injector head has been simulated with the use of commercial CFD code ANSYS CFX. The simulations have been done to estimate the impact of the combustion processes on the walls. Different numerical meshes, turbulence models and chemical kinetic models have been employed. Two cases, which relate to the combustion chambers operated on cryogenic oxygen and hydrogen and been tested at our test facility, have been considered. One case is the combustion chamber with solid walls, and another is the combustion chamber with the porous walls. The simulations predict well the measured heat flux to the wall and show the conditions favourable for the formation of the burnouts of the walls.
