Kurzfassung
The SINUE project investigates the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in non-segregated airspace, through real-time simulation of several representative beyond line of sight (BLOS) scenarios. The simulation will be set up by AT-One and will consist of • An ATC radar simulation facility (NARSIM) • UAS ground station (newly developed by DLR) • An unmanned aircraft (UA) performance model (based on an existing aircraft) • Satellite Toolkit, STK, a satellite communication and visualisation tool (to be delivered by Indra). Communication between ATC and the UAV operator and communication between the UAS pilot and the UAS system will be performed through simulated satellite connections. The SINUE project will focus on different types of UAVs: MALE (Medium Altitude Long Endurance), HALE (High Altitude Long Endurance), and tactical UAVs. In the project, AT-One‘s main responsibility is in the definition, implementation, and performance of simulations (WP4 – work package descriptions can be found in Appendix A). Further, AT One has a supporting role in other work packages, for the research on background work (WP1), contacts with potential end users (WP2), detailed definition of scenarios (WP3), evaluation of simulations (WP5) and assistance to writing the final report (WP6). This document is the AT-One project plan for the SINUE project which describes the activities to be carried out by the AT-One team in Amsterdam and Braunschweig. The project plan as such covers the activities of NLR and DLR, so that no individual project plans for NLR and DLR are required.
