Kurzfassung
The Mediterranean Countries are characterized by increasing water consumption due to municipal, industrial and agricultural use. On the other hand most of these territories dispose of abundant renewable energy resources. In the MED-CSD project is shown how with CSP technology the available solar energy can be used in order to produce at the same time electricity and water in an integrated power and desalination plant. The results offer a comprehensive techno-economic comparison among different locations within 5 Countries (Morocco, Italy, Cyprus, Palestine, Egypt), solar field types (parabolic trough and linear Fresnel), desalination technologies (multi-Effect desalination and reverse osmosis) and solar irradiation models (gacp and match).
