Kurzfassung
The consolidation of the European Train Control System (ETCS) of the European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS) produced different versions that are used for certain lines in the European countryside. This contribution will highlight issues resulting from the way of implementing routes with ETCS, i.e. paying insufficient attention of its technical and operational interoperability. Further it will be described how to save time and money combining lab tests and field tests as well as how to ensure the technical and operational interoperability with a proper testing methodology and approach.
