Kurzfassung
The actual and continuous threat by international terrorism and the increasing number of terroristic attacks raise the danger to the public. This evolution must be combat by the application of new counter-measures like advanced imaging technologies for the detection of concealed dangerous objects. The penetration capability of microwaves provides the detection of objects through atmospheric obstacles and clothing. Polarimetric object information can increase the detection capability of passive microwave imaging systems. DLR Microwaves and Radar Institute developed a fully polarimetric radiometer receiver. The design and construction of the receiver system is introduced and first experimental imaging results are presented.
