Kurzfassung
The applicability of the PIV and BOS technique was demonstrated in the High Enthalpy Shock Tunnel Göttingen, HEG. Two different validation experiments were performed. The velocity field around a wedge in a Mach 6 flow was measured by means of PIV and the results were compared to a numerical calculation. The BOS technique was applied to investigate the density field in the shock layer of a sphere at HEG condition III and I (total enthalpy of 13 and 20 MJ/kg). The axi-symmetric nature of the flow field enabled the use of BOS in addition to holographic interferometry, thus the results of both density measurement techniques can be compared
