Kurzfassung
NO excitation and fluorescence spectra, excited by an ArF excimer laser at 193 nm and measured in a hot cell (1200 K) in order to find suitable transitions for use in the high-enthalpy shock tunnel HEG, are discussed. NO laser-induced fluorescence measurements at 193 nm were performed in HEG, with the aim of carrying out 2D/2-line thermometry in the free stream and in gas flows around models. Results in HEG at enthalpies up to 21 MJ/kg are given for the space gliders HERMES and HOPE. The difficulties with contaminant emission at these high enthalpies, and means of overcoming them, are discussed.
