Kurzfassung
With our work in the department of Aerospace Psychology, we are pursuing the goal of increasing safety and efficiency in aviation. Since several decades, we have been successfully conducting psychological aptitude tests for prospective operators in aviation such as air traffic controllers and pilots. We are also examining and developing new approaches for the selection and training of future operators, investigating the human factors in human-machine interaction, and are studying collaboration in human and hybrid teams. This presentation will provide a brief overview of our work related to human-machine interaction in defense technology. I will showcase the investigation of complex requirements that military aircraft systems (especially unmanned aerial systems) place on the people working with them. Furthermore, I will share insights on the next steps in examining future requirements that arise from the collaboration of humans with increasingly autonomous artificial systems. These systems will pose new challenges for the design of interfaces with regard to maintaining and increasing cognitive performance as well as to establishing acceptance from human actors and the broad public.
