Kurzfassung
Premature flow separation of a coolant, negatively buoyant wall jet has been investigated experimentally in a generic aircraft cabin mock-up by PIV and CTA. Here, special attention has been given to the temporal behavior of the separation line. The instationary nature of the separation process leads to a motion of the separation line over the whole contour with a characteristic frequency of f=0.006 Hz. While the frequency increases as a function of the mock-up length, its bandwidth decreases. The structures associated with these low frequencies turn out to be very important for the cabin air flow, since they determine the position of the separation lines and thus the overall flow patterns in the cabin.
