Turismo y transporte, dos demandas y un destino

Kurzfassung

This paper analyzes the strong interrelationship between demand linked to international tourism and that associated with air transport. To this end, it reviews the academic literature and provides detailed data on the access modes for international tourists to a Spanish region. Based on this, it attempts to identify some determining factors that explain the relationship between the two demands, including the role of low-cost airlines, the negative externalities associated with air transport, and airport policy (charges and investments).
