Kurzfassung
Municipalities face the challenge of expanding their public charging infrastructure. Heterogenous small scale barriers in public space make the expansion of charging infrastructure costly and time consuming. The proposed localization method combines model-based demand estimation with overlays of potential conflicts, such as proximity to tree roots, conflicts with bike lanes, or preservation order. These parameters can be adapted to municipal or regional regulations. A gravity-based analysis is applied to each suitable location. The charging stations are iteratively assigned to the best scoring locations. The method is applied to a case study area in Berlin, Germany. The result is a set of suitable locations for future charging infrastructure that covers the demand within the study area and do not cause any defined conflicts. This study presents a transferable and adaptable approach for the distribution of EV charging infrastructure, offering higher-resolution placement and a flexible framework for diverse urban settings.
