Kurzfassung
The Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) is a key component in an Electromechanical Actuator (EMA) system, which is intended for controlling the ailerons. A detailed Computer-Aided Design (CAD) model of the PMSM is developed based on the available research EMA system. In the next stage of study, the analysis focuses on determining fundamental characteristics of designed motor model. These include cogging torque, flux linkages, direct-axis and quadrature-axis inductance, and torque constant, which are analyzed using the d-q reference frame approach. In order to perform the analysis, a 3D finite element method (FEM) simulation is implemented using Ansys Maxwell. The simulation study investigates the effects of different current loading conditions and the effects of magnetic saturation on motor performance. The resulting parameters serve as a foundation for building high-fidelity motor models that are capable of predicting the nominal and faulty operating conditions in EMAs.
