Kurzfassung
The increasing availability of spaceborne hyperspectral images (HSI) through missions like PRISMA and EnMAP, as well as the upcoming CHIME & SBG mission enables the opportunities for frequent and large-scale analyses of vegetation cover. The Earth Observation Centre at DLR has developed a Fractional Cover Analysis Processor FRANCA which estimates sub-pixel fractions of photosynthetically active and non-active vegetation as well as bare soils. The core of this processor is an endmember detection and labelling step followed by a linear spectral unmixing approach. We demonstrated the consistent unmixing over adjacent EnMAP scenes up to complete orbital flight lines and showcase the successful, reliable, and seamless derivation of fractional vegetation cover) on a regional scale. The methodology proposed here generates a Temporal Hyperspectral Regional Endmember Bundle (THREB), which pinpoints a critical step for the success of coherent unmixing on a regional scale.
