Kurzfassung
This paper aims to describe the challenges of fan mass flow determination in an experimental setup that consists of an open wind tunnel facility which houses an open fan test rig. The accuracy of the mass flow measurement in the presented setup is influenced by the short axial distance of the available measurement planes to the fan. The experimental setup as well as a corresponding CFD setup are described in detail. The latter is used as benchmark for the experimental approach and source of validation. The influence of the fan’s presence on the underlying pressure measurement shows a major influence on the mass flow determination and corrupts the results. A correction for the flawed pressure measurement is presented.
