Kurzfassung
In this study, a life cycle assessment (LCA) according to ISO 14040 and 14044 is performed for a solar-powered e-methanol concept that has already proven to be economically viable. The system integrates photovoltaics (PV), concentrated solar power (CSP), thermal energy storage (TES), alkaline electrolysis and carbon capture with full heat integration in all processes. The results show that life cycle greenhouse gas emissions are over 70 % lower compared to fossil-based methanol.
