Kurzfassung
The NatAs (nanoparticles in propulsion systems) project aims for green space propulsion by developing Ionanofluids (INFs) - a novel class of hypergolic fuels combining ionic liquids and nanoparticles. This study focuses on synthesizing INFs by electrochemical exfoliation of graphite. The observed nanomaterials as well as the INFs were intensively characterized. Hypergolic drop tests demonstrated rapid and reliable ignition with hydrogen peroxide, while initial hot-firing tests at DLRs M11 facility confirmed stable combustion in a 200 N thruster. These results support the potential of INFs as green alternatives to conventional hypergolic fuels in future space missions.
