Kurzfassung
This project focuses on the design and development of a mathematical model for a reformer device and a control system (emulator) within a one-dimensional framework. Utilizing OpenModelica as the primary simulation tool, the model replicates the behavior of converting hydrocarbon fuel into hydrogen for use in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). The simulation incorporates fundamental equations of mass balance, energy balance, and chemical reaction rates pertinent to steam reforming, while also accounting for factors such as temperature, pressure, and inlet flow rates to ensure theoretical consistency. Additionally, the project has developed an emulator to control valve operations for fuel delivery to the SOFC. Preliminary experiments demonstrate that the developed model and control system effectively simulate the device, thereby reducing the cost of real-world experiments and offering potential applications in the design of clean energy systems.
