Remote Tower Center Tool Mockups - IFAV3

Kurzfassung

The SESAR project 'Increased Flexibility of ATCo Validation' (IFAV3) with its solution 'IFAV applied in a Remote Tower Centre' (IFAV-RTC) seeks to increase the flexibility of air traffic controller (ATCo) deployment and reduce the effort needed to obtain and maintain unit endorsements on different aerodromes. This is mainly done via procedural and technical enablers. On the one hand, procedures enablers include, but not limited to standardization - meaning to adapt consistent and uniform procedures. On the other hand, technical enablers refer mainly to the development of supportive tools. This document focuses on new digital support tools for remote tower controllers implementing some of the suggested standard procedures. This encompasses three features (1) a relay station for communication and coordination, (2) a runway change assistance system, and (3) an emergency support tool. Those three components have been designed as a mockup to support TRL2 validation trials with air traffic controllers in Braunschweig and Malmö in 2025. The functionality of the mockups is detailed within this document.
