Kurzfassung
This six-month internship project aimed to develop an application for visualizing immersive geographical maps as a foundation for virtual drone air traffic management based on U-space concepts. The application integrates Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), enabling users to interact with a geographical map in AR and switch to VR for an immersive exploration of specific locations. Additionally, interactive elements, including drone paths, can be placed and customized within the environment. The application was developed using Unreal Engine and designed for the Meta Quest 3 headset. To render the geographical map, the Cesium plugin was utilized. The architecture was built with extensibility in mind, facilitating future feature additions by developers. The application effectively enables users to visit various geographical locations and interact with the environment. Users can also easily define and visualize no-fly zones custom drone flight paths, showcasing the system’s flexibility and usability.
