Kurzfassung
During the fabrication of SiC/SiC composites using the LSI (Liquid Silicon Infiltration) process, observation with a scanning electron microscope (SEM) reveals the presence of dense carbon blocks in the ceramic matrix. This internship focuses on controlling the amount of carbon in this matrix by modifying the precursor, a phenolic resin. Several experiments have been conducted: adding an excess of the curing agent, hexamine, to observe its effect on the residual carbon content, and using different solvents, such as diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol, to study their impact on the carbon yield during matrix fabrication. The primary objective of these experiments is to better understand how the composition and preparation conditions of the phenolic resin influence the carbon yield and the formation of the ceramic matrix.
