Kurzfassung
The German Aerospace Center (DLR) has completed its three-year research project "HorizonUAM". The results and developed solutions show how Urban Air Mobility (UAM) can become a reality by linking UAM vehicles and infrastructure, the operation of UAM services and public acceptance. On 5 July 2023, DLR invites to its 3rd Urban Air Mobility Symposium in Cochstedt, where the DLR teams will present the project results and conduct the final flight demonstrations. Efficiency, safety, feasibility, sustainability and affordability should be the key characteristics of future urban mobility. By combining the existing competencies of multiple DLR institutes, DLRs most comprehensive UAM project provides initial answers to the realization of this vision and discusses associated risks. Achievements in HorizonUAM • Possible UAM market scenarios and economic aspects until 2050 analyzed • System designs for future air taxis and certification of autonomy functions developed • Fight guidance concepts and the sequencing of air taxis at vertidromes analyzed including vertidrome integration at existing airports • UAM acceptance for the general public, potential passengers and passers-by investigated The highlight of the 3rd Urban Air Mobility Symposium will be flight demonstrations with drones operating in a scaled urban scenario. In addition, the project results will be shown in technical presentations, through a poster session, and discussed with invited guests in a concluding panel discussion. Guests can also experience an air taxi flight from the passengers’ point of view as well as from the pedestrians’ view through virtual reality installations.
