Kurzfassung
In an era where the threat of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) agents is increasingly sophisticated and unpredictable, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) has positioned itself at the forefront of developing cutting-edge detection and identification solutions. Two DLR institutes join their forces on the topic of detecting and identifying CBRNE related threats: The Institute for the Protection of Terrestrial Infrastructures and the Institute for Technical Physics. This presentation aims to showcase the institutes' latest advancements and research in this field, highlighting our commitment to enhancing the security of our society and critical infrastructures. Our core expertise lies in developing and integrating novel sensors and systems to detect and identify CBRNE agents reliably and promptly. We employ a multifaceted approach, combining in-house developed solutions with state-of-the-art market-available sensors, creating robust and versatile detection systems. Moreover, our work extends beyond mere detection. We emphasize the critical importance of data processing and analytics, leveraging state-of-the-art methods to refine sensor signals and extract meaningful insights. This enables us to identify and classify substances or objects with precision, ensuring timely and informed responses to potential threats. Here, we will share insights into our innovative strategies, the challenges we face, and the solutions we offer in the realm of CBRNE detection. Through this exchange, we aspire to foster collaborative opportunities and contribute to the global discourse on enhancing CBRNE security measures.
