Kurzfassung
Climate change is affecting today´s world resulting in the need for sustainability measures. The sustainability commitments and increasing cargo volumes of the air freight industry are among the challenges of the entire supply chain. Along with the development of SAF and improved aircraft design, the terminal efficiency is important to enhance in consideration of energy efficiency. The thesis examines the efficiency of processes within an air freight terminal considering energy efficiency. Expert interviews, with a focus on the German air cargo market, were conducted. It emerged from the interviews that process efficiency receives a higher priority than energy efficiency which is mainly focused on by regulations. Furthermore, uniform standards in terms of security measures and digitalization along the air freight supply chain enhance process- and energy efficiency.
