Kurzfassung
The current deliverable contains experimental investigations which were performed on tri-axially braided fibre reinforced epoxies. Those materials were studied under quasi-static tension and fatigue. Further experiments were carried on a mixed tri-axially braided fibre reinforced epoxy made out of carbon and Zylon fibres. Quasi-static material characterisation tests were conducted to measure the interlaminar fracture toughness in Mode I. Further material characterisations were carried to test specimens in tension and compression at different speeds. High velocity impact tests on target plates made out of this latter mixed tri-axially braided fibre reinforced epoxy were also conducted. The high velocity impact test conditions were chosen to enable a comparison of the current results with results obtained with materials studied previously within the CleanSky 2 program.
