Kurzfassung
In the course of the DLR research project Low Noise ATRA the effect of retro-fitting noise reduction technology on airframe noise and jet noise was investigated in a series of flyover noise measurements with the DLR research aircraft Airbus 320-232. Starting with the baseline aircraft in 2016 and temporarily ending in 2019 first results on landing gear, high lift system and jet noise reduction were achieved. The major outcome of the flight tests is a landing gear noise reduction by about 3 dB and an overall airframe noise reduction of about 1.5 dB, which are both based on add-on treatments. Furthermore, a special trailing edge treatment of the engine nozzle was tested. Detailed information on this technology and its acoustic benefit is provided in the companion paper by Siller
