Kurzfassung
In the last few years there has been an increased interest towards convergence of communication and sensing functions in the future networks, in order to provide high-data-rate wireless and mobile services. In particular, the co-existence and joint operation of radar and communication (comm) systems has emerged as a key research area. In this paper we study the performance of a time-sharing joint radar-comm network and propose approximation methods to obtain two key performance metrics, namely the radar range and comm success probability. We consider a set of radar-communication devices following a homogeneous Poisson point process. Each device works as a pulsed radar and a comm node in turn over time. The analytical results, which we verify via simulations, give important insights on how to trade between radar update rate, comm packet length and network performance.
