Kurzfassung
Time resolved volumetric flow measurements, using methods like 3D PTV, Shake-The-Box or Tomographic PIV are typically restricted to relatively small volume sizes in the order of 200 cm^3.This limitation stems from the small size of the used seeding material, which is required for them to accurately follow the flow (∼1 µm in air, 10 − 50 µm in water). However, neutrally buoyant heliumfilled soap bubbles (HFSBs) can be of larger size, while still accurately following the flow. Recently, a feasibility study demonstrated that HFSBs can be used in wind tunnels as well.
