Kurzfassung
In this paper, a novel redundancy technique is proposed to enhance the reliability of wireless train control and monitoring systems by allowing direct- and cross-links between the two highly directive transmit and receive antenna pairs of two redundancy modules. To compare the performance of a wireless communication system using the introduced redundancy technique, a study on the millimeter wave channel is required. For that a dynamic millimeter wave propagation measurement campaign was performed covering the automatic train coupling maneuver. Results show that redundancy significantly enhances the reliability of the mmWave communication link. Allowing cross-link transmissions is particularly useful in the automatic train coupling scenario.
