Kurzfassung
The Microwaves and Radar Institute of DLR operates an experimental radar system called IoSiS (Imaging of Satellites in Space), to do basic research in imaging of objects in space and furthermore for the purpose of gath-ering high resolution radar images of objects in a low earth orbit. These images can be an appropriate tool for analyzing satellite structures and possible mechanical damages for example caused by space debris. Furthermore investigations on unspecified objects could be established. Considering the imaging process of objects in a low earth orbit, based on inverse synthetic aperture radar geometry (ISAR), several error sources have to be taken into account. Experimental measurements show the first imaging results and these challenges in the imaging process.
