Kurzfassung
When producing large aerospace skin parts like e.g. a wing or fuselage component of an aircraft or a rocket motor case, the producer is confronted on the one hand with accuracy challenges (the larger the part, process induced deformations become more relevant) and on the other hand with challenges regarding production effort (the larger the part, the longer you need to produce the part). An optimum for both challenges seems to be contrary (larger and more accurate part for less production costs), but not if you combine modern manufacturing engineering and automation technologies like the authors of the DLR Augsburg did.
